The Mifflin County Library formed from the Lewistown Library Association of 1869.

Three buildings, one great library.

13 East Third Street, the home of the Apprentice Literary Society.

Mifflin County Library at South Brown Street.
Because of the weight of all the books, the library had to move to a larger, more stable facility.  The library moved into the Malta Building in 1955.

123 North Wayne Street

A new library building was completed and opened at 123 North Wayne Street in Lewistown in 1975.

The Children's Library was added in 1978 after being housed on the upper level for 3 years.
