County Library has a computer-based card catalog system called the
Public Access Catalog or "PAC".
When you set up a PIN for your library account (ask any staff
person), you may use the PAC to renew items from your home computer. Hold
requests and ILL (inter-library loan) requests may be placed through the PAC
as well.
Follow these steps to place a hold through the PAC: 1. Find the book/item you
want in the PAC. 2. Check the checkbox
next to the tilte you want, then click the
blue "request hold" box. 3. You can
choose "I want the first available copy" or "I want a
specific copy". (Please note that it may take a few days to
receive a book
requested from another branch.) 4. You
will be prompted to enter your ID# (library card barcode#)
and PIN. Choose your home library (the library where you want
to pick up the
book) from the dropdown list. 5.
Click "submit request". A pop-up will appear stating:
"Your hold has
been approved for: (title). The hold on this item will
expire on: (date). Your home library will notify you when the
item is ready
for pickup". You will then have 5 business days to
pick up the item.
Librarians
are always available for assistance in using the PAC and answering
your questions. |
