Personal ID Number (PIN)
to manage your library account online

What is a PIN?

A Personal ID Number or PIN is a four to eight digit numbers /letters (or combination of both) you choose to protect your account.  Always keep your PIN private.

How do I get my PIN?

Call or visit your library to have a librarian set up your PIN. You will be able to change your PIN on the Mifflin County Library webpage (after the first number is assigned) if you choose to.   ***Please note the PIN letters are case sensitive.

When do I use my PIN?

You will need your PIN to access your library account information on our Public Access Catalog (PAC.) This allows you to see what items you currently have checked out, what you have on hold, items overdue, current fines, place holds/reserves and renew most materials.

Here is how to use your PIN:

Go to mifcolib.org

Click on PAC Online Catalog

Click on ”start searching the Public Access Catalog”

click on My Account

Enter your library card number (barcode) and PIN number

Click on Submit Request.

Navigating your account:

You can click on any of the Quick View (blue) items to see the following:

·         Loans – View or renew the materials you have checked out and see due dates.  DVD’s, Videos and Inter-library loan items cannot be renewed online.

·         Items overdue: Renewal of overdue materials will automatically charge a fine to your account! You are responsible for paying all fines. If a box pops up: Item cannot be renewed. Check at the circulation desk; please call the library. It means your account is over the fine limit of $2.50 according to library policy; you have a BLOCKED status; or the item is on hold for another patron.

·         Placing holds: Hold requests may now be placed through the PAC
     1. Find the book/item you want in the PAC.
     2. Check the checkbox next to the tilte you want, then click the
         blue "request hold" box.
     3. You can choose "I want the first available copy" or "I want a
specific copy".  (Please note that it may take a few days to
receive a book requested from another branch.)
     4. You will be prompted to enter your ID# (library card barcode#)
and PIN.  Choose your home library (the library where you want
to pick up the book) from the dropdown list.
     5. Click "submit request".  A pop-up will appear stating:  "Your
hold has been approved for: (title).  The hold on this item will
expire on: (date).  Your home library will notify you when the
item is ready for pickup".  You will then have 5 business days to
         pick up the item.

·         Pending holds: These are books you have on request at the library.

·         Fees: Lists total fines on your library card.

The account summary on the left will also lead you to these resources but has an additional heading of Saved Searches, to activate this, go to the Search tab near the top of the page to look up the item you are searching for, then check the box of the item you want to save. Click on the Save Search tab to save the items. A box will appear asking for Search Name/Title, Library ID# and PIN.  Follow instructions. (You can repeat this process as desired.) To return to My Account you must re-enter your library card number and PIN. Click on the Search History tab to view the items you saved.

Remember to LOG OFF if you are searching at one of our library computers.

If my PIN doesn't work?

If you have forgotten your PIN, call or visit your nearest branch library for assistance.

If you have questions, ask any of the Mifflin County Library staff.
